Background
Aluminium Corporation of China Limited (CHALCO) was established as a
joint stock limited company in china. The corporation is promoted by Aluminium
Corporation of China (CHINALCO), Guangxi Investment (Group) Co, Ltd and Guizhou
Provincial Materials Development and Investment Corporation. CHINALCO was
formed to own and operate 12 state-owned entities engaged in the production and
distribution of alumina, primary aluminium, fabricated aluminium products and
other products like Gallium and Carbon materials.
Plant locations and capacity details
CHALCO is also the largest producer of alumina in China with a
production volume of 9.02 million tonnes and primary aluminium production
volume of 3.25 million tonnes in 2008. All its primary metal capacities are
located in China .
The key operating assets of Chalco includes four integrated alumina and primary
aluminium production plants, two alumina refineries, one primary aluminium
smelter and one research institute. The refineries are located in reasonable
proximity to abundant bauxite reserves.
